I may be a week late to Dolly Parton’s 79th birthday, but better late than never!

In her new cookbook, “Good Lookin’ Cookin’,” her sister Rachel mentions that she makes this Rustic Chicken and Dumplin’s for Dolly’s birthday each year! I was hoping Dolly would share her famous secret recipe, but it looks like we will have to keep waiting! Although with how delicious this version is, I’m not sure I need it now!

The chicken is seasoned with Morton Nature’s Seasons blend and browned in butter before simmering in a flavorful broth with onions, garlic, and vegetables. The star of the dish is the homemade buttermilk dumplings, which are gently dropped into bubbling broth and cooked until they rise to the surface.

Finished with a sprinkle of fresh parsley, this comforting one-pot meal is definitely a new winter favorite.
