After watching me awkwardly broil things in my high-sided Dutch oven, Smitten Kitchen very kindly sent this braiser from her partnership with Staub – and it only felt right to give it its inaugural run with one of her own recipes: Ziti Chickpeas with Sausage and Kale.
This is exactly the kind of dinner Deb does so well. Sausage and tomato are already a match made in heaven, but the chickpeas and kale make for a heartier and more complete one-pot meal. It all gets finished with a sprinkle of Parmesan and mozzarella, then slid under the broiler until bubbly and golden with the most satisfying cheese pull.
And Alex will be happy – with the higher sides, even my chaotic stirring keeps everything in the pan.
It’s quickly becoming my go-to pan, and this cozy dish is a very convincing argument for why.
