Even on the worst days, often a big bowl of fried rice is all I need to cheer me up – what’s not to love? And I could not get enough of this fabulous Cantonese Pork Belly Fried Rice from The Woks of Life.
The key ingredient: pork belly lardons marinated in five-spice, white pepper, and Shaoxing wine, cooked until crispy and golden.
Minced ginger is bloomed in the rendered pork fat, then combined with rice, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and sliced cabbage and sautéed until warmed through and the cabbage has wilted. A sprinkling of scallions finishes the dish and you’re ready to dig in! T
he pork and five-spice powder are a match made in heaven!
