As you’re prepping for Father’s Day dinners this weekend, I thought it was the perfect time to share my Top 10 Favorite Ina Garten Steak Recipes! 🥩
My dad loves steak and makes a pretty phenomenal one! I didn’t know the first thing about cooking steaks when I started this project – as was evident from the dry, overcooked early versions, but with practice and Ina’s guidance I’ve perfected the medium rare steak for nearly any cut!
And Ina has some mouth-watering options across her 13 books from her spicy/sweet rub for her New York strip steak and simple classics like Filet of Beef au Poivre to butters, sauces, and toppings that’ll turn up the volume on any steak!
And don’t worry if you don’t have a grill, many of the recipes can be adapted for a stovetop!
Grilled New York Strip Steaks
Make It Ahead, page 118 (Recipe)
A New York Strip steak is one of my favorite cuts and the rub Ina’s created for this is the only one I need in life – sweet, spicy perfection. Such a simple way to make an astounding steak.
Filet Mignon with Mustard & Mushrooms
Cooking for Jeffrey, page 104 (Recipe)
Ina loves a mustard cream sauce (she has ones for fish and chicken as well) and I can understand why! The mushrooms add some extra umami to the steak and sauce.
French Bistro Steaks with Provencal Butter
Back to Basics, page 122 (Recipe not online)
Hanger steak used to be a favorite, but I often struggled to find the cut. The butter packed with herbs makes this one special!
Grilled Steak & Arugula
How Easy Is That, page 143 (Recipe)
This simple salad kicked off my love affair with steak salads – we have them at least every other week!
Filet of Beef au Poivre
Barefoot in Paris, page 124 (Recipe)
The simple classic is still a favorite – and the matchstick potatoes are a must!
Steak Sandwich
Food Network (Recipe)
Medium-rare steak piled on a pillowy focaccia with arugula, mustard and mayo, and caramelized onion? NOM!
Steakhouse Steaks with Roquefort Chive Sauce
How Easy Is That, page 138 (Recipe)
You may be seeing a theme: I love a steak with sauce! And for the blue cheese lovers, this is the one you should make!
Rib-Eye Steaks with Cornmeal-Fried Onion Rings
Barefoot Contessa at Home, page 109 (Onion ring Recipe)
These light and crispy onion rings are the perfect topping for the simply prepared steak.
Steak with Bearnaise Sauce
Barefoot in Paris, page 126 (Recipe)
This was one of the first steaks of the project and my note in my spreadsheet after making it confirms that: “learn how to cook steak”. In the intervening 7 years, I’ve done that and more. While I was working on my steak-cooking techniques, this bearnaise sauce came out perfectly.
Grilled Porterhouse Steak with Rosemary & Fennel
Go-To Dinners, page 142 (Recipe)
The latest Ina steak offering is phenomenal – the dry-aged porterhouse was a little out of my price range, but the olive oil infused with garlic, rosemary, and fennel is great on any cut of steak.
