Hearty Lentil Sausage Soup – Ina Garten’s Ultimate Winter Comfort Recipe

As we take a trip down memory lane this year – revisiting some of the first Ina recipes I ever made – it only felt right to start with the one that kicked everything off: Lentil Sausage Soup (Updated). While it wasn’t the first Ina recipe I cooked, it was the very first one I posted, marking the official start of this project!

It’s been a winter favorite ever since – it’s packed with veggies, is hearty, delicious and the kielbasa adds a nice smokiness to the soup. I love kielbasa so much! This makes so much soup and every time I think there’s no way we’ll finish all of it, but we always manage to do so!

This time, I made the updated version from Ina’s website and couldn’t figure out what had changed until I noticed the smallest tweak: she now adds the kielbasa after 30 minutes instead of at the end to infuse the soup a little more. Leave it to Ina to fine-tune perfection. And as you can see from the video, Helen couldn’t resist the smell wafting from the kitchen either.
