COWBOY CARTER IS OFFICIALLY OUT! While I suit up in my cowboy boots, ten gallon hat, and daisy dukes, head over to the blog where I’m sharing another Beyoncé-themed NYC food list: “Sweet Dreams” – it’s all my favorite places to satisfy my sweet tooth! Admittedly, this is probably the weakest of the lists as I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but these picks will satisfy your craving for cake by the pound.

VENERIOS
Italian Bakery (East Village)
342 E. 11th St., Manhattan
This classic Italian bakery has been around since 1894 and for good reason. My go-to is grabbing an assortment of mini desserts, allowing me to savor all my favorites in one go.
Favorite Dishes:
- Canolis
- Napoleon
- Cheesecake
MAGNOLIA BAKERY
Cupcakes (Multiple locations)
Though made famous by Sex and the City, I always skip the cupcakes here. The banana pudding, on the other hand, is something magical. It’s one of my favorite treats.
Favorite Dishes:
- Banana Pudding
SUGAR SWEET SUNSHINE
Cupcakes/pudding (Lower East Side)
126 Rivington Street, Manhattan
When I first moved to the city, the puddings here were a revelation. I’d often take the train in from Brooklyn, and sit her enjoying a cup of pudding and some coffee while reading a book.
Favorite Dishes:
- Puddin (any kind)
TAIYAKI
Taiyaki (Chinatown)
119 Baxter St., Manhattan
The pictures of fish-shaped cones were ubiquitous on Instagram, but this is one place where the hype is backed up by one tasty cone!
Favorite Dishes:
- Unicorn Taiyaki
SOFT SWERVE
Ice Cream (Chinatown)
85 Bayard Street, Manhattan
When I come here, I go straight for the perfectly sweet ube (purple yam) ice cream. It’s one of the creamiest I’ve ever had and as a bonus, that deep, rich color looks great.
Favorite Dishes:
- Ube (Purple Yam) Ice Cream
LEVAIN BAKERY
Cookies (Multiple locations)
Who would have thought two triathletes created these mammoth chocolate chip cookies?! I recently learned that the owners came up with these awe-inspiring cookies to give them energy boosts during triathlons. I, on the other hand, binge eat these on my couch while watching marathons of Golden Girls. There’s always a line at the original location on W 74th Street, so hop on the C train and head north to 116th Street location in Harlem. Same delicious cookie, minus the wait.
Favorite Dishes:
- You can’t go wrong
STEVES AUTHENTIC KEY LIME PIE
Pie (Red Hook)
Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier, Brooklyn
You don’t have to travel to Southern Florida for a fabulous key lime pie – Steve’s has you covered. I like to guild the lily and enjoy The Raspberry Swigle – key lime pie, topped with raspberry, and coated in chocolate.
Reservations: Grab and go
Favorite Dishes:
- The Raspberry Swigle
