Ina Garten’s Roasted Shrimp Cocktail: A Low-Effort, High-Reward Classic

Our New Year’s Eves are a lot quieter these days, usually a good dinner and a movie at home, followed by passing out well before midnight. Yes, we’re officially old.

While we may skip the ball drop, we never skip Ina Garten’s Roasted Shrimp Cocktail. Growing up, shrimp cocktail was the holidays as my uncle almost always showed up with a tray, and it felt instantly festive.

Once Ina taught me to roast the shrimp, I never looked back. They come out plump, juicy, and perfectly seasoned every single time. And her cocktail sauce is the classic combo you want (ketchup, chili sauce, and horseradish) brightened up with lemon, Worcestershire, and a few dashes of Tabasco to wake everything up.

Low effort, high reward, and exactly the kind of unfussy-but-special appetizer that feels right for ringing out this dumpster fire of a year.
