Have you voted yet? If not, no Smitten Kitchen Apple Cider Old-Fashioned for you! If you have, here’s an honest question: Is it too early to start drinking in anticipation of what could be a long, drawn-out night, week, or month?
Deb takes your traditional spiked apple cider and inverts the cider-to-bourbon ratio, creating a more spirit-forward cocktail.
This autumnal Old-Fashioned is a simple combination of spiced apple cider syrup (created by reducing 4 cups of apple cider down to ⅔ cup), orange bitters, and bourbon, stirred with ice and garnished with an apple slice.
If you can only find plain apple cider (✋), you can add some pumpkin or apple pie spice blend. I improvised a blend using ground cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves!
