Ever since seeing this recipe in Barefoot in Paris, I’ve been dying to try it — that could be because it looks an awful like the ratatouille in “Ratatouille” which is a movie I loved! It’s such a beautiful dish, that I can’t wait to perfect for a dinner party.

It has some of my favorites things – tomato, potato, zucchini, thyme, sautéed onions, and Gruyère. NOM! Unfortunately, the zucchini and tomatoes released so much liquid that the dish was overly watery, diluting all those wonderful flavors.
Next time, I’ll spend some extra time sautéing the vegetable slices to remove excess liquid before assembling the dish, as they did in this Serious Eats recipe. When I try it again, I’ll let you know how it turns out.
