To make the trifle
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, at room temp
3/4 cup butter, at room temp
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
16 oz whipped cream
1 honey bourbon cake
Recipe
Place cream cheese and butter in the bowl of standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium until light and fluffy – approximately 3 mins.
With the mixer on low, add the powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time. Add vanilla and mix until combined.
Using a spatula, gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese/butter mixture.
In a large bowl, crumble the cake into large chunks. In a small bowl, crumble three chunks into finer crumbs.
Place approximately 1/3 of the cake chunks in the bottom of a large glass serving bowl, cover with 1/3 of the cream. Repeat two more times (there should be a total of 3 layers of cream and 3 layers of cake)
Sprinkle with finely crumbed cake pieces and serve.
