I was tempted to recreate the bathtub full of potato salad from the movie but instead went with a play off the title to make one of my favorite desserts: @kendrakendrakendra’s Bananas Foster (Jenkins) – a nickname I’m sure people who heard Florence sing whispered about her …
The slightly under ripe bananas are caramelized in a butter/brown sugar sauce infused with cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla. A splash of rum is added and ignited to flambé the bananas before serving with ice cream and toasted pecans for a delightful crunch.
It was a quick, easy, and incredibly satisfying dessert.
